In our craft kits for kids section we've pulled together a selection of our favourite kits designed with kids in mind. We define kids as under 14, but many of the kits here are suitable for children of 8 years up. Every kit is a complete craft project allowing a child to create a craft item with lots of fun, and sometimes lots of mess too! Parental supervision is optional- some kits are perfect for families to spend some quality time together, while other kits are better for children looking to achieve something alone. Our introductory craft kits are aimed at those wanting to try a craft for the first time. Each one is a self-contained activity- no further tools or equipment are required, and each kit gives a taste of the techniques required to pursue the craft. Many of the kits include tools, moulds or other items which can be reused should you wish to continue the craft.

The Start A Craft range are really well priced at only £4.95. Each Start A Craft kit is supplied with clear, easy to follow instructions and contains everything you need to produce the finished product. Each kit has been designed to be an easy example of the craft and so it's the perfect way to check whether the craft is right for you. These kits also make wonderful presents for anyone over the age of 14.

Our other introductory craft kits are made by Dempsey Designs, a small UK based company specialising in fun to complete craft kits. Each comes in a reusable carry bag and, like the Start A Craft range, are complete kits intended to give a taste of the craft. These kits are designed with the younger crafter in mind, either as a kit to be completed alone, or as a project to be made with parental involvement.

Our Intermediate Craft Kits are suitable for beginners and enthusiasts alike. More comprehensive than the Start A Craft range, these kits cover a wider range of crafts and offer the potential to produce more detailed items, using more advanced techniques. They're perfect if you're a beginner who likes a challenge, an enthusiast who has some experience already, or the free thinking type who likes to explore their creative side!

Every kit comes compete with no extra tools or supplies required. With prices starting from below £8 they represent fantastic value and make perfect gifts as well as being great to complete oneself! All our intermediate craft kits are suitable for ages 14 and up- some can be completed by younger ages with supervision.

Our advanced craft kits are designed to provide a more thorough approach to each craft, using more advanced techniques, larger quantities of supplies, and higher quality tools and equipment. If you're serious about a craft, but don't know where to start, these advanced kits make it easy to get involved. Like our other kits, they're complete with no extra items required to complete the craft project, but they're also more detailed and often include those components that add a professional finishing touch to the item- for example the Creative Candle Kit includes scent to perfume the wax of the candles.

These kits will provide hours of enjoyment and the end results will be items which have an intrinsic value, either for the maker or as a gift. The higher price of the kits reflects the larger quantity of items that each kit is capable of making, as well as the higher quality of each finished craft item. Many provide quality tools which you can use as the basis for a craft tool box after the kit has been finished.

The contents of these wonderful puppet craft kits come together to produce a string puppet which will provide hours of fun! The puppet kits contain a selection of cardboard cones and tubes to make the body, string and wooden bars for the puppet control, and decorative materials which vary according to the kit. While patterns are provided, you're free of course to decorate the puppet as you wish, and the supplied paints are generous enough to allow you quite a freedom of choice when it comes to colour! Many of these kits are supplied with choices of materials so you can change the final design- for example you can choose the colour of the fleece for the sheep kit as both black and white are included.

Each of these kits has been graded by the manufacturer to give an idea of the difficulty level- this is a real benefit as it allows you to select a kit that's suitable for the age and ability of the maker. All our puppet kits are supplied in a really lovely cardboard cylinder, which can be reused after the kit is finished to hold pencils, oddments or just for fun.

Our mosaic kits use Italian glass mosaic tiles which are higher quality than the Far Eastern tiles often found in basic mosaic kits. These tiles (or tesserae as they're more often called) are easier to cut, less prone to splintering, and can be colour matched across batches to ensure constant colours- perfect for that large project when you run out half way through!.

All mosaic kits are supplied with everything required to complete the mosaic project, including glout, adhesive, vitreous glass & ceramic tiles, bases, gloves, spatulas, etc. The kits offered are produced by Mosaica, a UK based company who have been supplying mosaic tiles, kits and supplies for 16 years, and who are known for the high quality of their kits.

The mini mosaic kits, glass mosaic kits and coaster kits all require tiles to be broken, as do the larger mosaic kits. For smaller children, or where you don't want to have to cut tiles, we recommend the mini mirror mosaic kits or larger mirror mosaic kits which use the mosaic tiles just as they are.

Papier mache is messy but great fun, and is an activity for all ages from the very young to adult. Paper Pets are papier mache kits to produce a funky coloured animal- all components and parts are provided, even the paper! The end results are perfect as decorations or playthings, and there's no reason why you have to stick to the design- use the paints provided to create your very own personal papier mache creature!

Dry felting, or needle felt as it's sometimes known, has existed in Europe for many years but is only now making its way to the UK. The Artfelt range of felt kits offers something for everyone- four dry felt kits which use needles to create the felt from the wool, and two wet felt kits which use traditional water and soap to create the felt.

Each kit contains everything you need to create the item on the cover. All the wool is Nepalese merino and is supplied in gorgeous little brightly coloured balls. Every felt kit contains full instructions plus a colour illustration of the finished product, although you're welcome to use your own artistic talent to create something unique should you wish to!

Artfelt hair rope kits use a wet felt process and are suitable from ages 6 and up. The remaining Artfelt kits use the dry felting or needlefelt process and are suitable for ages 13 and up due to the sharp needle supplied.

Traditional candlemaking goes back thousands of years and until quite recently the candlemaking industry in the UK was a major industry. Candles are hugely popular as gifts and candlemaking is a buoyant craft with lots of room for creativity. The basic techniques are easy to master, and there's plenty to keep your interest once you've got involved.

Marbling is a fantastic hobby for anyone who loves colour and freeform design. The random element of the colours means that no two designs will ever be quite the same, and the wonderful swirling patters give the impression of a liquid form long after the colours have dried.

Marbling is an easy to achieve hobby with very little initial outlay required, and is one that can be enjoyed by anyone. Further supplies of inks etc are easy to obtain, and once you've started with the kits you'll be itching to try out the techniques on other items around your house!

Quilling has been popular for many years and it's attraction lies in the delicate beauty of the finished pieces. Quilling requires a little skill with a steady hand to achieve best results, but basic patterns and shapes can be produced quite easily.
